Britney Spears to take legal action over violence claims

Outraged Britney Spears has vehemently denied a report that her long-term boyfriend Jason Trawick physically abused her.

The pop star is taking steps to sue a US publication for what she has described as a "completely and utterly false" story.

Star magazine claimed to have received tapes recording conversations between Britney – 29 on Thursday - and her ex-husband Jason Alexander, which have since been posted online by its sister website.

In the accompanying article, Jason – wed to the star for 55 hours - alleged that the mum-of-two told him her current beau "beat on me."

A statement released on Britney's website said: "The statements attributed to Jason Alexander are a complete fabrication as Britney has not had any form of communication with Mr Alexander in years.

"The audio recording posted on Radaronline this morning purporting to be between Britney Spears and Jason Alexander is so obviously fake as to be laughable.

"Suffice it to say, that Jason Trawick has never laid a hand on Britney.

"These irresponsible statements are defamatory and Britney Spears' legal team will be taking legal action against all of the appropriate parties."
